Pearl Harbour

We organised to go on a tour of Pearl Harbour today, which is still an active base. It included a tour of the USS Battleship Missouri, which was in service from 1944 to 1955 and then again from 1986 to 1992. The Missouri was the ship upon which the Japanese officials signed the Instruments of Surrender signaling the end of the 2nd World War in 1945 in Tokyo Bay. We watched a documentary about the bombing of Pearl Harbour and then toured the Memorial above the USS Arizona, which is where over 1,100 men were intombed after the attack. It was quite a moving experience.
